Even though scars are part of the body's natural healing process, they can sometimes be painful, unsightly, or simply inconvenient. Laser treats scars with beams of laser light used to reduce their appearance.  The treatments also encourage regrowth of healthy skin. Lasers can be used to reduce several types of scars.  Our practice treats the most common type of scarring, called hypertrophic scarring. This type of scarring results from an improperly healed cut or other injury. These scars are often raised slightly above the surrounding skin, and may be slightly discolored. Smaller hypertrophic scars heal to some degree over time, but many will always be visible without scar removal.
